Psychotherapy & Counselling

insight, LEARNING, change

You are probably reading this because you are looking for help.

You may be struggling with a life crisis, or a past traumatic experience may be affecting you in the here and now. Or perhaps you are outwardly successful but inwardly feel that something has to change.

Everyone has their own reason for coming to therapy. I can help you gain insights into your difficulties, establish a greater understanding of any unhelpful patterns and work alongside you to bring about change.

During the last 20 years I have worked with many people to help them gain greater clarity of perception, both internal and external, and to develop new, healthier strategies in their lives, guiding them to realise their human potential.

I provide a safe, confidential, comfortable space where you have the time and space to explore present or past difficulties, express your thoughts and feelings, understand what is going on for you and work out a way forward.

My style is warm, supportive, insightful, and respectfully challenging.

I draw on several different theoretical approaches with Transactional Analysis (TA) as my prime theoretical model. Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality, relationships, and communication – a model for understanding both human behaviour and psyche. As well as addressing the observable, behavioural world of an individual, TA also addresses their inner communication, which takes place unconsciously.

By addressing both the observable dynamics of behaviour and the hidden internal stimuli I can help you understand where and how you may be trapped in unhelpful, sabotaging, or destructive patterns, and walk alongside you to help you find new answers and put in place what change is needed to make that your reality.

FAQs

  • Principally, I work with individual adults. I also work with a very limited number of couples.

  • The first step is to email lesley@alchemymediation.co.uk with a brief outline of why you are seeking therapy or give me a call on 01892 537999 and leave a voicemail. I will get back to you for a free no obligation 15 minute phone call – if you then want to take the next step we will arrange an initial consultation and assessment.

The initial 60 minute consultation and assessment session will give you a good idea of what to expect with no commitment to further work. During this session we discuss your concerns and where you are at in life, I will share my thoughts and observations with you along with any recommendations. If you feel working together would be a helpful way forward we agree the next steps together.

Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes and are usually weekly or fortnightly. The period of time we work together varies from person to person – this will be mutually agreed and regularly reviewed.
